Practice Information

Accessibility

We have access facilities and dental cabinetry to accommodate wheelchair users at Seagate Dental. If you require the use of the wheelchair ramp and modified surgery please indicate this when making the appointment. This will allow us to allocate you to the appropriate surgery and position the ramp prior to your arrival.

Domiciliary Visits

It may be possible to arrange for one of our dentists to visit you or a relative at home to undertake a dental check up. If you or someone you know is unable to attend the practice please enquire at reception about possibility of this service.

Cancellation or failure to attend appointments

We do appreciate that circumstances do arise where you may need to reschedule an appointment. We would kindly request that 24hrs notice is given to each cancellation. This allows us to offer that appointment slot to another patient. Cancellations made on the day of the appointment will not be charged on the first occasion. Repeated short notice cancellations or failure to attend for appointments will incur a charge and may result in deregistration.

Payment

All NHS patients will receive free check-ups and subsidised dental charges or they may be entitled to free dental treatment. It is important that you bring in proof of your exemption status before we start treatment. For those who are not exempt from charges the practice asks that you pay for any dental treatment you have had at the end of each appointment. When undergoing treatment that requires construction of a prosthesis at an external laboratory at least 50% of the final balance must be paid before it is fitted. In circumstances where long appointments have been requested (e.g. Tooth whitening)  it may be necessary to take a deposit at the time of booking.

Entitlement to free dental treatment:

  • Under 18
  • Are 18 and in full-time education
  • Are pregnant, or have had a baby during the last 12months
  • Recipient of guaranteed credit part of pension credit or universal credit
  • You or your partner receives income-related employment and support allowance
  • You or your partner receives income support
  • You or your partner receives income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Named on a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate
  • Named on a valid HC2 certificate issued under the NHS low income scheme

Emergencies

Acute dental emergencies will be seen within 24hours during the week. As we are open on Saturday mornings we may also be able to accommodate emergency appointments then, subject to availability. After 5pm during the week, at the weekend if we are unable to accommodate on a Saturday Morning and on certain public holidays  (Christmas/New year/Easter Monday) emergencies are dealt with by an Ayrshire & Arran on call service. Contact details and instructions on what to do if you require emergency treatment out of hours are available on the practice answer machine on 01294 273584.

Complaints

If we have failed to deliver to your expectations please approach a member of staff in the first instance. If the problem cannot be resolved immediately then we have recognised complaints procedure in place. This will require you to put your complaint in writing to the complaints officer Fiona M.L. Daly.
